Isn't the I-want-to-eat-that-bird meow the funkiest thing? Only one of my two cats does it . . . but she does it often. She used to sit in our yard in Venice, looking up at the birds on the telephone lines . . . and she'd do it . . . sort of a cross between a meow and a cluck. And she'd occasionally come prancing into my bungalow with bird in mouth . . . looking very, very proud!

Now she sits in my window and stares at the birds on the rooftop across the alley and does it. She hasn't set foot outside since we moved to DC . . . mainly because she hasn't figured out how to operate the elevator. But I can't fault her for dreaming!
